Carton Sealing Tape

Carton Sealing tape

Carton sealing tape, commonly known as packing tape, is a pressure-sensitive tape specifically designed for sealing cardboard boxes or cartons. Its primary function is to secure the contents of a package during transit,  helping to protect them from damage or tampering. The tape is typically composed of three layers: a backing material, an adhesive layer, and a release coating.

Types of Adhesives

Carton sealing tapes come with different types of adhesives to cater to various packaging needs. Acrylic adhesives are suitable for general-purpose applications, offering good adhesion to a variety of surfaces. Hot melt adhesives provide a strong bond and are ideal for sealing heavy or bulky packages. For temperature-sensitive items, such as food or pharmaceuticals, rubber-based adhesives are a popular choice.

Choosing the Right Carton Sealing Tape

Width and Thickness

Selecting the appropriate width and thickness of the tape is crucial for effective carton sealing. The width should cover the seams of the box adequately, ensuring a secure seal. The thickness, measured in mils, determines the strength and durability of the tape. Thicker tapes are more resistant to tearing and can withstand heavier loads.
